Headteacher's message
Welcome to Katherine Semar
Junior School website.
We hope that whether you are a prospective parent or
pupil or already part of our school community, you will
get some idea from this site about the vibrant life of
our school.
At Katherine Semar Juniors the curriculum is full of
enjoyment and challenge for our children and is relevant
to today's world and that of the future. Our curriculum
ensures a well rounded educational balance that helps
develop inquisitive, responsible children who become
lifelong learners.
I am proud to be the Headteacher of a school which is
continually evolving, providing a rich, inclusive and
creative learning experience for all.
There were 8 teams and KSJ played them all, winning all
of their matches with ease. During the 7 matches, KSJ
scored 67 goals and conceded only 2.
6NL and 6AH visit the library
Thursday 4th March was World Book Day. As part of their
celebration of reading and of literature, 6NL made hats
and masks on the theme of the book being used in English
at the moment: Chocolate Mousse For Greedy Goose by
Julia Donaldson. They also took the opportunity to visit
the town's Library. 6AH visited a week later, on
Thursday 11th March.
KSJ win Netball tournament
On Friday 5th March 3 teams from KSJ went to SWCHS to
play against 3 teams from The Meadows primary school
from Balsham.
After the success of the family netball tournament the
previous week, it was decided to let our D, E and F
teams play.
Our D and E teams won all their matches, while team F
won one and lost two.
KSJ celebrates World Book Day
On Thursday 4th March, 2010,
the children at Katherine Semar Junior School were
joined by children from all around the world in
celebrating ‘World Book Day’. The day provided an
opportunity for children to celebrate their love of
reading and of books.
Year 5 visit the Cambridge Botanical Gardens
As part of our Topic work on the
Rainforests, the Year 5 children and staff recently
enjoyed a visit to the Cambridge Botanical Gardens.
During the day, the children took part in a variety of
workshops and were able to develop their understanding
of the types of wildlife that can be found in the
rainforests of the world. The children enjoyed a tour of
the gardens and were amazed to discover a tree that the
experts explained was around at the same time as the
dinosaurs! (Yes – a tree even older than the teachers!).
Bethany’s
Judo victory for KSJ It was the 28th
of February and I was pumped and a bit nervous as I was
heading towards a Judo competition (Dacorum Police
Championships at Berkhamsted)
I
weighed in at 19.5kg making the lightest weight
of U-32kg catagory. As I was eventually called up to
fight- I felt ready and prepared. I came out aggressive
but foolishly made a simple mistake but luckily I held
down the girl I was fighting which won me the fight.
